Big things are going on over at The Korova. The downtown venue has made some updates Angel Castorena feels are long over due. Upgrades to the sound system, bathrooms, kitchen and even Room 237, the former basement, is getting a new stage. These developments are being highlighted after a string of kick-ass concert announcements, but the main thing that should have San Antonio music die-hards excited is the TICKET DRIVE.
San Antonio has the chance to purchase "ghost" tickets (more accurately SKELETON TICKETS, like a skeleton key) in packs of 1, 2, 5, 10, or 20 for ONLY $10 Per ticket (Think Season Tickets) that can be used for ANY SHOW IN 2015. Meaning, if GZA or The Misfits or equivalent name comes through town, you're in. "Personally, I suggest if you're an avid live music fan and have the funds left from those tax returns, the VIP one year pass to all shows is going to end up being a steal by the years end" said Castorena.
The ticket drive is an ingenious way for average San Antonians to invest in the venue. One would get a 50% ROI on $20 if you attend 2 shows that were actually $15 at the door. "That's what this is about, making The Korova even better ... & now is the time to make this venue everything it can be" said Angel.
Sobre Sound recommends readers jump on this opportunity to guarantee entry to upcoming shows. Already announced are A Place To Bury Strangers; Thee Oh Sees, Jeff The Brotherhoood & Diarrhea Planet; Matt Pond PA; and Defeater. I can only imagine what will happen later in the year and especially around the summer and ACCC.
