It was a post-Napster world recovering from a disruption of an entire industry. While the major labels and music business leaders were scrambling to figure out how to maintain their bottom lines, something unique was bubbling to the top: the golden age of the mp3 blog.
Bands were beginning to go nationwide with zero traditional press or terrestrial radio airplay.
Bloggers were gaining clout in other industries too, not just music. Facebook was brand new, Twitter & Instagram didn't exist yet (MySpace did tho), and music blogs were a source of new music not found many other places.
