RIP the 90s

Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots was found on his tour bus to have died in his sleep. He was on tour with his band The Wildabouts in Minnesota. It was no mystery Scott Weiland struggled with addiction and is now the latest casualty of the excess that surrounds the music and entertainment industries.

Several artists from the 90s  that help shape an entire decade's identity have since passed. Kurt Cobain of Nirvana and Bradley Nowell of Sublime, Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon, Layne Staley of Alice In Chains and Dimebag Darrell of Pantera who was gunned down on stage in 2004.

Stone Temple Pilots' Open Letter to Scott Weiland

Dear Scott,

Let us start by saying thank you for sharing your life with us.

Together we crafted a legacy of music that has given so many people happiness and great memories.

The memories are many, and they run deep for us.

We know amidst the good and the bad you struggled, time and time again.

It’s what made you who you were.

You were gifted beyond words, Scott.

Part of that gift was part of your curse.

With deep sorrow for you and your family, we are saddened to see you go.

All of our love and respect.

We will miss you brother,

Robert, Eric, Dean
