Applications are being accepted for the 2015 Community Altar Exhibition, in a press release organizers state:
The centerpiece of the event is the Altar Exhibition and Contest which is the largest outdoor exhibition of altars in the city. Community members, schools, and artists are invited to participate in this Día de los Muertos tradition by entering the Altar Contest and building their own altar at La Villita Historic Arts Village. Cash prizes will be awarded for the altars - 1st place is $2,000, 2nd place is $1,000 and $500 to the “Audience Favorite.” This year, Ricos Products has generously sponsored a dedicated Student Altar Competition for any K-12 grade level school groups. A prize of $500 will be given to the best entry by a school or student arts organization.
