Guster to headline Humana's Rock N' Roll San Antonio Marathon

Guster, known for that one song, "Satallite" we were all about in 2006 was recently announced as the headliner for this year's Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & ½ Marathon, one of the biggest, if not the biggest marathon held here in the city. 

  The band will perform for thousands of runners and spectators on Sunday, December 4, 2016. The finish line concert is free and open to the public.

“Guster will be an epic finale and great way to celebrate that 13.1 or 26. 2 mile accomplishment,” said Megan Miller, Event Director. “With a new flat, fast course that starts and finishes downtown and upbeat headliner this race weekend is one you won’t want to miss.”

Guster hails from Boston, Massachusetts where they emerged on the scene in 1991. They got their big break in 1999 when they released the single “Fa Fa,” which was featured on Billboard magazine’s Adult Top 40. They have released six studio albums including, Parachute, Ganging Up on the Sun and most recently Evermotion.The band’s music has also been featured in a variety of movies and TV shows including, Wedding Crashers andThe O.C.

Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio will feature two-days of running with the marathon, half marathon and 5K on Sunday, December 4 at 7:30 am and the Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll 10K on Saturday, December 3 at 8:45 am. Participants can take the Remix Challenge by running both Saturday and Sunday to earn the coveted Remix Challenge medal in addition to each race’s finisher medals.

The race will debut a new marathon and half marathon course this year, which will start on Presa and Commerce St. and finish near Hemisfair Park and La Villita. Participants will once again experience San Antonio’s unique cultural landmarks including, the Alamo, The Pearl, San Antonio River Walk, San Fernando Cathedral, Mission Concepción and more.

In true Rock ‘n’ Roll fashion, live bands, enthusiastic cheerleaders and spectators will line the race route, concluding with a post race Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series headlined by Guster.

SUBWAY KiDS ROCK returns on Saturday, December 3 at Brackenridge Park and allows children in first through seventh grade the opportunity to race one-mile while Kindergartners run a half mile. Hundreds of children and their families come out for this race.

Race weekend kicks off with a free Health & Fitness Expo, where runners can find the latest in running technologies, fitness apparel, health and nutrition information and interactive displays. The expo takes place at The Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on Friday, December 2 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The expo is free and open to the public.
